My ship was in drydock in boston getting overhauled. Our Chief storekeeper was temporary duty to Norfolk supply center reworking our spare parts inventory. When he came across in one of the back warehouses a main feed water supply pump that had been ordered for our ships last overhaul but never got installed. So, he says to himself, I'll send this up so it can be installed. But it had been in ordered so long ago, the original purchase order had been closed out, and he couldn't charge shipping to it. It was a large crate, not cheap to ship.
So he found that I had ordered a set of jewelers screwdrivers so I could repair glasses. He taped the little box of jewelers screwdrivers to the crate, and charged shipping to my screwdrivers. Which duly arrived in the shipyard with my name on it. This pump cost tens of thousands of dollars, and my division officer was thinking I had just spent our entire medical budget for the next couple of years. Much head scratching ensued, especially when someone found the box of screwdrivers taped to the top of the crate.

i remember unpacking a float switch for a waste oil tank that was in a wooden crate and secured with wooden braces and metal bands and lots of rubber packing then the whole thing was wrapped in foam. i had to make 3 trips to my toolbox and ended up needing a cordless dril, crowbar, hammer, utility knife, and an offering and prayer to the logistic gods to get the damn thing out so i could install it

They were packed so they could be at the bottom of the hold of a supply ship. Dropped while being unloaded, piled up on the ground with a tarp over it on a south Pacific island for several months, loaded onto a transport, dumped on an invasion beach, used as a makeshift shelter on the beach, then issued out to be used, still usable.

To be honest, it depends on what you like. Always go with a paperback, and try to not get an overly thick one that is hard to hold. I found it was better to have multiple smaller books with me on ship than a few thick books. I read a lot of sci-fi, fantasy, and comedy books during my at-sea time. I served in the days before we had Kindles and such, so I can't comment on how well one of those would work (and check the ship's rules on bringing personal electronics on-board).

The whole point of it was a social experiment. It's about remembering the times you spent doing general experiences of life, and after a full year, they would kill the channel - videos and all. It's a reminder of what precious time we still have left, and setting out to experience different things might make for a wholesome lifestyle.

It was a fun channel, of course Mark (Markiplier) and Ethan (CrankGamePlays) were just being themselves, it might have seemed like it was a daily series of simple content, but much of it is relatable and things an average joe can do. Pretty sure one point or another, Mark wanted to strangle Ethan, one video he ended up punching a hole in a wall of his house while doing a presidental fitness test. Which explains why Mark had his hand casted for a few weeks. X3

An over the counter pain killer is also always good to have. If you wear glasses, have at least two pairs with you on the ship, both with your current prescription. Have an extra pair of both your work uniform/outfit and your dressy uniform/outfit, keep them as back-up. Find out what you can replace while on-board and make sure you have extras of what can't be replaced on the fly like that. And get extra padded inserts to put into your shoes, you will need them at some point!

Like for example Blockbuster. Yeah it was the thing in the 80s and 90s but by the end of the 2000s its physical business store model was no longer viable thanks to the Internet and a huge recession. To stay in business they basically would have had to become what we know today as Netflix

It's done! I'll be doing a cookie from a kit later it will be easier and it will have a cactus!
anyways here's my first try ever on a Gingerbread 🏠.
The story behind the house is it's not a traditionally snowy gingerbread house. (cause not everyone gets snow on Christmas) and im ok with that, but rather a frost ice glaze so u can still see grass after snow and ice has unthawed but the icicles on the roof tell you it melted and refroze again! also watch out there's blk ice on the sidewalk! and grass u can see under the clear ice! I did that as a last minute touch! and the bushes are soft peppermints!
so that's my untraditional personal touch due to real life phenomena! My fiances condo is on the pumpkin plate.
I spent 2 hrs on my 🏠 and he spent 20mins on his 😅 #gingerbreadhouse
